As we write this blog post, it’s International Women’s Day. It’s a day to celebrate diversity, strong will and perseverance of women through tough times all over the world. Here at the IUPAT, we send out a special salute to all of the women who belong to the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. We’re proud to call you Union members and are pleased with the new and creative ideas that you bring to the world of the trades, once strongly considered only a man’s world.
We know, as well as you do, there are battles to still be fought, that women have come a long way in Union participation. They have helped in the fight for fair wages, childcare and healthcare, just to name a few items. We invite you to read through other articles where we’ve discussed how much women have influenced and continue to change the landscape of where Unions are headed.
If you are a woman who may be thinking about re-joining the work force or may be considering a career change, we encourage you to learn more about the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades. The IUPAT offers a unique hands-on environment where you can funnel your creative energies into construction projects across Ontario. Whether your passion is to paint, use your hands to create works of art as a glazier, to smooth and finish dry walls to prepare it for painting, we have a place for you.
