When it comes to Canada’s elections, we encourage every union member to take this event seriously. To that end, IUPAT has joined forces with Let’s Build Canada to empower, educate and represent workers from all provinces. By having all the information you need, we believe that you can make wise choices at the polls, bringing strength to the union and the community.
What is Let’s Build Canada All About?
As a coalition of Building Trade Construction Unions, the entity Let’s Build Canada is devoted to helping union workers elect a Federal government that is union worker friendly. Let’s Build Canada has a comprehensive website, LetsBuildCanada.ca, where union workers can investigate candidates representing the New Democrat, Conservative and Liberal parties. Each party has made its own stance on topics including infrastructure, taxation and job creation; you deserve to know what they are promising for the future of all Toronto painters, drywallers, glaziers and other union members and their families.
Why the IUPAT Is a Key Player
For many union workers in Ontario, the IUPAT is their source for information and discovery of facts and statistics regarding how they can become a part of this thriving union community. With the upcoming election on October 19, we have the unique opportunity to transform our Canadian government in order to:
- Invest in our Infrastructure. Numbers don’t lie – it’s estimated that the population of Canada could almost double in the next half-century. That means we have to have the roads, bridges and other infrastructure to keep our country running smoothly. Without union workers, we could end up in a challenging position as a society.
- Create Better High-Paying Jobs. As we know, apprentices can make excellent wages and go on to have fulfilling, lucrative careers. However, Canada needs to support individuals who want to get into the construction trades. Many of the candidates running for election are promising to focus on job creation, which is promising for Canada as a whole.
- Work Toward Equality and Fairness. Workplaces need to offer fairness in order to attract qualified, dedicated employees. Unions can bring about changes toward the betterment of working conditions, benefits, wages and much more.
It’s Time to Build Canada, One Carefully Vetted and Elected Official at a Time
