This year alone, the IUPAT is endorsing over 50 candidates that will help keep the Fair Wage Policy in tact as well as keep well-deserved positions within the school system. It is our focus to maintain the Fair Wage Act policy in cities such as Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener, Thunder Bay and Sudbury. In order to succeed, IUPAT District 46 needs your help. In order to continue to provide thousands of hours of jobs for our members and contractors in the City of Toronto, we need to educate communities about the candidates who support our cause and have the best interests of the Union at heart.

Toronto Municipal Elections & Fair Wage Policy
As you may be aware, the District 46 Council has direct collective bargaining agreements with the City of Toronto for all trades, the Canadian National Exhibition for maintenance painters and dry wall finishers. And, DC 46 refers glaziers, painters and dray finishers to the Toronto District School Board. In the City of Toronto, this accounts for over 22,000 hours and almost $683K in earnings to IUPAT. Furthermore, the effects of losing this policy will carry a much larger repercussions in the Toronto District School Board. In all, failure to support the Fair Wage Policy will impact over 86,000 hours and millions of dollars in earnings for members. This doesn’t account for the tens of thousands of hours received by our Union contractors from the tendering process released by the City and school board under the Fair Wage Policy or new construction at the Canadian National Exhibition.
Unfortunately, all of these groups have agendas to remove our Fair Wage and Hiring Practices from their entities, resulting in huge job losses and hours on behalf of our members and Union. We need your help! It’s time to stop the bureaucracy and focus on the livelihood of our community and Union members.
