While unemployment remains high, there is a need for more people to get involved in the skilled trades. According to BTY Group’s Market Intelligence Report for 2013, though forecasts for housing construction for 2013 seem to show a declining trend, the commercial sector appears to be stepping it up with continued infrastructure spending, offering more opportunities for jobs in the coming year.
What this means for you is more opportunity in various trades for new jobs, steady work and opportunities for those who may be looking for a job in new career field. I encourage you to reach out to those around you who may be job searching, or may be in secondary school trying to decide what their future might hold, to consider a job in the skilled trades.

We’ve also reached out to women who may have an interest in turning their talents into a new career path. As Union members, it is up to us to tell others about why being a Union member is advantageous and rewarding. Only we can make our own Union grow. Tell someone about your job and why you enjoy it so much. Show others what can be accomplished and let them know about the various opportunities available to them.
