Hello Retirees,
This is Bill Nicholls, now a retiree, and your former District Council 46 Business Manager/Secretary-Treasurer. For those of you that attended the fantastic District Council 46 Retiree’s Gala at the Venetian Banquet Hall last November, you may remember I addressed the group about an initiative by General President, Jim Williams Jr in the formation of an IUPAT Retiree’s Committee, encompassing both Canada and the United States.
That Committee has been formed and members are getting involved with retiree groups, retiree functions, and addressing retiree needs across both countries. Along the way, in Canada, we have joined the Congress of Union Retirees in Canada (CURC) that is affiliated with the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC).
CURC exclusively represents retired union members in Canada with national, provincial, and regional councils. I ask you to check out their website for all that CURC offers retirees especially in the area of benefits and resources.
Meanwhile and in the future, District Council 46 will be providing information on an ongoing basis for retirees in the DC 46 Newsletter, Website, and on Facebook for your benefit. Eventually it is intended to send weekly emails or messaging to you regarding information for retirees so you are requested to ensure the DC 46 office has your up to date email and phone numbers.
Once again, CURC is for your benefit and I encourage you to take a good look at the website.
