District Council 46 is proud to present our Scholarship Award Program! We will be offering five scholarships to children and grandchildren of IUPAT District Council 46 painters, drywall tapers, glaziers, hazmat workers, stucco workers, sign writers, fireproofers, epoxy floor workers, and polyurethane workers. If you have someone in your family interested in pursuing further education, please encourage them to apply for the scholarship.

We Want to Help Make Education Accessible

IUPAT values education, and we recognize that education comes in many different forms. Whether someone is interested in pursuing education through trade school, college, or university, we want to do what we can to make that more accessible and affordable. Post-secondary costs are continuing to rise, but that shouldn’t stop talented and determined students from pursuing further education.

A scholarship committee of members from District Council 46 will be awarding five scholarship awards of $2,000.00 each to the institution of choice for a member’s child or grandchild.

Submission Criteria

To win one of the scholarship awards, the applicant must submit an essay of not less than 1,000 words and not more than 2,000 words on the specific topic below:

The past year of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic has posted incredible challenges and demands to the fabric of Canadian society and impacted Canadians on every level, and will likely continue to do so for some time.

As we move forward with post-pandemic planning, there will certainly be an examination and review of the failures and successes of Canada’s approach to the pandemic, and what lessons can be learned from this experience.

If you were asked to write a report for the Ontario government on the issues that confronted the construction industry during the pandemic and the role of construction trade unions during the crisis, what would you state? In your response, be sure to consider health and safety issues and any relevant legislation, the concept of “essential businesses” in the construction sector, job site enforcement and/or any other relevant factors.

Applicants must also be the child or grandchild of an IUPAT District Council 46 member (painter, drywall taper, glazier, hazmat worker, stucco worker, sign writers, fireproofers, epoxy floor workers, polyurethane workers), and submit a completed application form. Applications (form and essay) must be submitted to our office no later than July 30, 2021.

If you have any questions, please contact Nicole at our office at (416) 630-9604 or 1 (800) 668-1823.

We look forward to your application!
