Ontario is temporarily moving into Step Two of its Roadmap to Reopen with modifications, in a response to an alarming increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations. This will be effective from Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 12:01 am to January 26, 2022.
These measures include:
- Social gathering is now reduced to 5 people indoors and 10 people outdoors.
- Organized public events are limited to 5 people indoors.
- Indoor weddings, funerals, and religious services, rites and ceremonies are limited to 50% capacity of the particular room.
- Retail settings are limited to 50% capacity.
- Indoor dining at restaurants, bars, and other food or drink establishments are closed. Outdoor dining with restrictions, takeout, drive through and delivery is allowed.
- Indoor sort and recreational fitness facilities (such as gyms) are closed.
- Schools will move to remote learning starting January 5 until at least January 17.
- During this period of remote learning, free emergency child care will be provided for school-aged children of health care and other eligible frontline workers.
- Hospitals will pause all non-emergent and non-urgent surgeries and procedures.
