It was a small but mighty turn out for last nights all-candidates debate hosted by Algoma Family Services and Women in Crisis at the Grand Gardens.
Unfortunately, not all candidates made an appearance at said all-candidates debate.
“We would also like to acknowledge, although he could not be here this evening, that Jib Turner represents the Progressive Conservative Party for this riding,” said Dale Kenney of Women in Crisis during her introductions. “Jib could not be with us because of his roots on Manitoulin and he found it impractical to be here this evening.”
Candidates Luke Macmichael (Green Party), Celia Ross (NDP) and incumbent David Orazietti answered questions from individuals representing Algoma Family Services and Women in Crisis on a variety of topics, including youth substance abuse and mental health, family violence, Ontario Works assistance programs, affordable housing and the lack of some essential health care services in our area.
However, it was Karrie Oliver that received a round of applause when it came time for the public to address our candidates.
