In a CBC News Business report, Statistics Canada noted that results from an August 2012 survey shows that Union members averaged a 3.6 percent pay increase year-over-year. They went on to say that the average hourly gap between union vs. non-union employees was recorded at a difference of $5.04 per hour in wages. The Canadian Labour Congress supported the difference in the salary/hourly wage range and actually said the differences are closer to $7.00 per hour. Using either figure, that’s a big difference.
