On April 26, members of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) across North America came together for our annual Community Day of Action. This is a day dedicated to giving back to the communities where we live and work. Each year, district councils identify meaningful projects that reflect our shared values of solidarity, service, and support.
This year for our Community Day of Action, our local team in Toronto organized a crew of dedicated IUPAT members to provide a fresh coat of paint to the Luso Canadian Charitable Society, at their Peel location.
Luso Canadian Charitable Society is a vital charitable organization that provides a safe, supportive, and caring environment for individuals and families living with physical and/or developmental disabilities. Their Peel centre is a hub of compassion, inclusion, and care—and we were honored to contribute to their mission.
Our volunteer team devoted their time and skills to revitalize the centre’s interiors. From prepping to painting, their hard work transformed the space, giving it a bright new look that was immediately appreciated by staff and participants alike.
“It was a pleasure having you at the Peel Centre on Saturday,” Luso staff shared. “We truly appreciate you taking the time and using your skills to give our centre a much-needed refresh. Everyone was delighted to see the freshly painted walls this morning—especially our Luso participants. Your contribution truly made a difference, and we are sincerely grateful.”
It’s moments like these that remind us of the power of unity and community. We’re proud of our members who volunteered their time and energy to support Luso for our Community Day of Action, and we’re inspired by the work they do every day—both on the job site and in service to others.
