Important Notice to Members for All IUPAT Members Working in the ICI Sector of Construction Industry Under the Painters’ Provincial Collective Agreement
As you are aware, the Union is engaged in province-wide strike under the Painters’ Provincial Collective Agreement. On June 21, 2022, the three employer associations that bargain the collective agreement – ISCA, the OPCA and AAO – sent a letter to the Union to advise that it would offer no further compensation increases and will not meet for additional bargaining until September 2022. Further, the employer associations have proposed to resolve the renewal of the collective agreement by way of binding interest arbitration. Under the proposed process, an arbitrator would set the terms of the renewal agreement based on any analysis of the economic conditions of the province, comparator collective agreements negotiated in the ICI sector and the legal principles applicable to interest arbitrations.
There will be a vote to determine whether the membership is agreeable to having the renewal of the collective agreement determined by interest arbitration on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. The vote will occur at the following locations.
