We can NOT trust Tim Hudak. Although he has changed his message, the Conservative leader still plans to weaken your union and every other union in Ontario.

HUDAK`S EXTREME POLICIES WOULD:
** Weaken union bargaining power in negotiations with employers
** Undermine wages, benefits and pensions of both union and non-union workers
** Reduce workplace safety and union representation
** Cut good jobs for the next generation
** Weaken defense of public services, human rights and the environment

Tim Hudak claims that his target is union leaders, not rank-and-file workers– not true. If Hudak is elected, the big losers would be working families. He is concealing his intentions by using phrases like “creating a competitive labour market” — these are code words for lower wages.

IT IS TIME TO PAY ATTENTION TO OUR UNION RIGHTS

When Hudak changed his message about attacking unions, he said his agenda “is a lot bigger and a lot more ambitious” than attacking a single labour law.

Hudak’s advisors have studied dozens of tactics that have been used in the U.S. to destroy unions – and lower wages. In Wisconsin, laws were passed that barred unions from negotiating pensions, health coverage, safety, hours of work, sick leave or vacations! Under those restrictions, unions crumbled.

If elected, Hudak is certain to bring U.S.-style labour laws to Ontario.

WE NEED STRONGER UNIONS AND BETTER PROTECTION FOR WORKING PEOPLE

Who believes that nothing bad will happen to workers if their union loses members and bargaining power? Even Conservative union members are having second thoughts about voting for extreme policies that would hit them in the pocket book now and weaken defense of their pensions in the future.

FAIRNESS IS A CANADIAN VALUE

Unions helped to win public health care and education, human rights, unemployment insurance, pensions and many other gains enjoyed by all working people – not just union members. Together, fairness works!
