Do you enjoy working with your hands and feel like you could turn what you love to do into a career? One of the many skilled trades that IUPAT supports is that of a Drywall Finisher. As a Drywall Finisher, you’ll prepare surfaces by taping, filling, sanding and finishing walls. Part of your job may also include working with various tools for the application of protective coverings, sealants and decorative finishes and mouldings. You’ll also need to be familiar with health & safety procedures and guidelines and be able to work independently.
What Does it Take to Start an Apprenticeship?
Start by calling our office and let us know that you are interested. We’re more than happy to discuss the skills that a career in drywall will take. If you have more detailed questions, we can introduce you to an expert who is already in the field who would be happy to answer your questions. In case you’re wondering about more of the beginning details, the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program tells us that you can start as early as age 16 as long as you are able to work in Ontario and have a social insurance number. Of course, you also need to be in good academic standing and be well on your way to completing your diploma. More details can be found on their website.
