How long does it take to become a painter?

The minimum entry level to start training to become a professional painter is Grade 10, and the Level 1 course work takes 270 hours, 70% in class and 30% hands on training. You’re also required to complete a 6,000 hour apprenticeship program, which takes about 3-4 years. The apprenticeship program is paid, so you’ll start earning a percentage of journeyman’s wages right away!
